Vietnamese people have an average life expectancy of 74.5 years

(LĐXH)- The average life expectancy of Vietnamese people increases from 65.5 years in 1993 to 74.5 years in 2023, higher than many countries with the same per capita income.
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan said that over the past 30 years, Vietnam has made efforts to resolve inequality and narrow the gap in socio-economic status between regions as well as population groups.

Specifically, the human development index has improved significantly and reached an average level compared to other countries in the world. The most obvious manifestation is the sharp decrease in malnutrition, maternal mortality, and child mortality.
The maternal mortality rate has decreased 6 times in the past 30 years, from 233/100,000 live births in 1990 to about 40/100,000 live births in recent years.
Since 1993, the mortality rate for children under 1 year of age has also decreased from 43.3 to 12.1 per 1,000 live births in 2020.
The population structure is shifting positively towards a sharp increase in the working-age population, from 56.1% in 1989 to 67.5% in 2023.
Vietnam has entered the "golden population" period since 2007 with a young, abundant workforce and needs continued investment in social security, health, education, employment, and improving labor productivity. , towards sustainable development.
Population distribution has become more reasonable, the proportion of urban population increased from 20% in 1993 to 38.1% in 2023.
"However, Vietnam does not have experience in encouraging increased fertility in low fertility areas and adapting to population aging, in the context of many limitations in investment resources. Therefore, Vietnam hopes to be share and supported financial resources and technical support from the international community," Minister Dao Hong Lan emphasized./.
