Promoting labor cooperation between Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates
(LDXH) On the sidelines of the 108th International Labor Conference (ILC) held in Geneva (Switzerland), June 17, 2019, Minister of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung and Mr. Nasser Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Human Resource of the UAE in the field of domestic labour.

The content of the MOU stipulated the selection & training progress, responsibility of the dispatching and the reception agencies, content of labor contracts and contracts with employees. The MOU will take effect immediately after signing, the term is 4 years and automatically renewed if either party does not wish to terminate the implementation. This MOU will only require domestic workers to work in the UAE, while another MOU signed in 2009 generally provided employees for all industries.

Vietnam has supplied labor to work in UAE since 1995, the highest time was over 10,000 Vietnamese workers. Currently there are about 5,000 Vietnamese workers in the UAE mainly in the field of construction, mechanics, shipbuilding, hotel services ... with a basic salary of about 450 USD / month.

The signing of the MOU in the field of domestic labour will promote cooperation between the two countries in the field of human resources based on the results of the implementation of another MOU signed in 2009. This is also a condition for domestic helpers to work in the UAE in the future.
