Minister Dao Ngoc Dung received General Director of Canon Vietnam
(LĐXH)- Minister Dao Ngoc Dung had a reception and working session with Mr. Shigeyuki Okamoto, General Director of Canon Vietnam on the afternoon of January 12 at MoLISA headquarters.
General Director Shigeyuki Okamoto said that last year, in the context of the country's general difficulties, Canon's production output decreased. However, about 18 thousand employees was still guaranteed jobs and benefits like every year.
In 2024, Canon will continue to recruit more workers to increase output and revenue.
In the context that Vietnam will increase the regional minimum wage from July 1, 2024, Canon will also increase salaries for officers and employees, and provide Tet bonuses to employees according to the proposed plan.
Mr. Shigeyuki Okamoto proposed to the Minister a number of issues related to licensing procedures for foreigners working in Vietnam; global minimum tax incentives, policies to create conditions for foreign businesses to invest in Vietnam and the issue of amending the Employment Law.
Speaking at the reception, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung said that Vietnam and Japan have a special and close relationship.
The Minister added that currently, the number of Vietnamese people living and working in Japan ranks first among 15 countries, about 520 thousand people, of which, Vietnamese workers are about 350 thousand people.
In 2023 alone, there were 85,000 Vietnamese workers going to work in Japan. With that special attachment, Vietnam greatly appreciates and creates favorable conditions as much as possible for Japanese businesses investing and doing business in Vietnam.
The Minister highly appreciated the results achieved by Canon in the past year, especially overcoming difficulties and challenges to maintain stable production and business activities, create jobs as well as take care of labour./.
