A programme was launched by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) on August 17 to support people affected by COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s current largest hotspot of the pandemic.
Donations worth about VND160 billion (US$7 million) have been received from businesses through the programme.
Beneficiaries include needy people and those living in difficult circumstances due to COVID-19.
Based on the list of beneficiaries made by the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Vietnam Post and Viettel Post will coordinate with local authorities to deliver gifts of necessities worth VND300,000 each.
More than 533,000 people are expected to benefit from the programme.
All goods in the programmes are provided by reputable businesses with clear origin, quality assurance, food hygiene and safety.
The programme will be implemented from August 17 until September 15./.NDO
