Fifty provinces see increases in social insurance participation

ifty provinces have posted a rise in the number of people participating in compulsory social insurance, while 28 provinces reported increases in the number of people participating in voluntary social insurance in the first four months of this year, as shared by Vietnam Social Security (VSS).

In addition, 48 provinces across the country witnessed growth in the number of citizens participating in health insurance, as announced by VSS at a meeting held on May 6.

VSS said that as of May 4, 2024, more than 17.4 million people are participating in social insurance, up 1.73% over the same period in 2023. Of whom, over 15.59 million people are covered by compulsory social insurance, up 1.56%, while over 1.45 million people enrolled in voluntary social insurance, representing an annual increase of 3.71%.

In the meantime, about 14.25 million people are participating in unemployment insurance, an annual rise of 1.74%. As many as 90.24 million people are covered by health insurance, a slight expansion of 0.02% over the corresponding period in 2023.

As of the end of April 2024, the total accumulated revenue from social insurance, unemployment insurance, and health insurance stands at over 155.4 trillion VND, a 10.04% increase over the same period in 2023.

VSS General Director Nguyen The Manh said that VSS has achieved increases in almost all categories in the first four months of this year, showing a favourable beginning for the year. However, as many challenges remain, efforts to optimise services on the management and handling of insurance are required./. NDO
