Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha works at Thanh Hoa on child drowning prevention and control
(LĐXH)- The delegation of the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha worked with Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee on strengthening prevention and control of accidents, injuries and drowning among children on May 10.
The number of children in Thanh Hoa accounts for a quarter of the province's population, but there are only 270 swimming pools in the province with 29 standard ones, mostly in hotels or cultural centers.
He proposed the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to advise and submit to the Government to promulgate a project on child drowning prevention and control, initially piloting it in a number of key provinces with high drowning rates.
In addition, the province proposed the Government to have mechanisms and policies to support businesses to invest in swimming facilities and teach swimming, especially in disadvantaged areas.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha acknowledged the achievements of Thanh Hoa province in the prevention and control of child drowning.
She suggested that the locality should strictly follow the directions of the Government and the Prime Minister on child drowning prevention and control.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha suggested that all levels of party committees and local authorities pay attention to invest resources in building swimming pools to increase the percentage of children being taught swimming and safety skills in the water environment.
At the same time, she expressed her wish that mass organizations actively participate in mobilizing people to take their children to swimming lessons and practice life skills.
