02:34 PM 09/09/2024
(LĐXH)- On September 6, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and the Australian Embassy in Vietnam announced the implementation of a program to support Vietnamese citizens to work in the agricultural sector in Australia under the Labour Migration Program between Australia and Vietnam.
Accordingly, the Australian Government will allow up to 1,000 Vietnamese workers to work in the agricultural sector in Australia at any one time.
Vietnamese workers participating in the Program can work short-term (from 6 to 9 months) or long-term (from 1 to 4 years).
Vietnamese workers are required to have low to semi-skilled skills in the agricultural sector such as crop cultivation, meat processing, seafood (including aquaculture) and forestry.
In March 2024, the Prime Ministers of the two countries jointly announced the Implementation Plan of the program, which clearly stated the requirements and conditions for Vietnamese workers participating in the program as well as the responsibilities of relevant agencies and organizations to ensure the welfare of workers.
The selection of enterprises providing services to send Vietnamese workers to work abroad under contracts and Australian employers to participate in the program will be carried out in September.
The MoLISA and the Australian Government will coordinate to select Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the Program.
Deputy Minister of MoLISA Nguyen Ba Hoan said: "This agreement aims to meet the aspirations of Vietnamese workers working in Australia to improve their foreign language skills, accumulate knowledge, science and technology in the agricultural sector with high income...
When completing the labour contract, they can return home and apply it effectively, increasing labour productivity; at the same time, workers working in Australia aim to meet the shortage of human resources of Australian employers"./.
