Better Work launches its Global Strategy 2023-2027 towards sustainable impact for businesses and workers

(LĐXH)- On November 22, in Hanoi, Better Work Global Program and Better Work Vietnam held a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony between the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), the Confederation of Trade and Industry of Vietnam, Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, International Labour Organization (ILO) and International Finance Corporation (IFC); as well as launching the Better Work Program high-level strategy for the period 2023-2027.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha said that Better Work Vietnam program started operating in Vietnam in July 2009 with the initial goal of improving working conditions and competitiveness of enterprises in the textile industry in Vietnam.
She shared that, after 14 years of operation in Vietnam, the activities of the Better Work program were assessed by the tripartite partners as being consistent with the goals of labour management and actively supporting the process of promoting real Labour law enforcement in Vietnam.
“The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding today affirms the support and commitment of the Government and Vietnamese social partners to accompany the Program to further promote the results achieved during the period; as well as spread its impact to more businesses in the textile, footwear and other manufacturing industries” - Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Ha emphasized.
ILO Country Director for Vietnam, Ms. Ingrid Christensen shared: “The effectiveness of Better Work Vietnam has proven that promoting social dialogue and raising awareness about gender equality in the workplace are key factors to improve working conditions and raising incomes for hundreds of thousands of workers in the garment and footwear industries”.

The Vietnam Better Work Program is under the Global Better Work Program. This is a cooperation program between the ILO and the IFC.
Its objective is to improve compliance with labor standards based on National Labor Law and basic international labor standards; improve business efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises in export industries. In which, the main goal is to support businesses in the garment and footwear industry.
In Vietnam, the Program has been implemented in 29 provinces and cities through 3 phases since 2009. Currently, more than 440 businesses and nearly 750,000 employees are actively participating in the program./.
